IRSPM Conference 2023
Budapest, 3-5 April 2023
After two consecutive virtual conferences, we look back at yet another great experience in-person: the PSAAG’s Special Interest Group Panel on Accounting and Accountability at this year’s IRSPM Conference 2023 hosted 8 sessions with 32 intriguing paper presentations around the topic "Public value(s) accounting and accountability: management and governance in turbulent, post-truth times". In particular, we explored
-
How accounting impacts public officials, decisions and practices the impact of accounting on public officials, decisions and practices and the accompanying promotion of accountability
-
How accounting serves to identify and resolve problems in public service delivery while facilitating information sharing between government and citizens / How accountability serves to identify and resolve public value issues in public service delivery while facilitating information sharing between government and citizens
-
To what extent do accounting and accountability on the one hand and public values on the other influence each other?
-
What is the role of accounting and accountability in relation to a post-truth society and (changing) public values?
Thank you to this year’s panel chairs, André Aquino, University of São Paulo, Brazil; Enrico Bracci, Universitá di Ferrara, Italy; Sara Closs-Davies, Bangor Business School, Bangor University, UK; Tobias Polzer, WU Vienna, Austria; Iris Saliterer, University of Freiburg, Germany; Mariafrancesca Sicilia, University of Bergamo, Italy; Ileana Steccolini, Essex Business School, UK and the presenting colleagues for a lively discussion and for advancing the accounting community in the public sector sphere!
Following up on our ‘tradition’, the Special Interest Group again organized an informal dinner on the first day of the conference – see some impressions here:
